Why "beyond the razor" mens cosmetics and make up

Quality product, range of product and exceptional customer service is paramount at "beyond the razor" and is why "beyond the razor" is quickly becoming the go to product for men globally.

All our products have been sourced, manufactured and packaged in Canada, Canada has one of the highest standards in cosmetics legislation in the world.

All cosmetics sold in Canada must be safe to use and must not pose any health risk. They must meet the requirements of the Food and Drugs Act and the Cosmetic Regulations.

Under the Food and Drugs Act, a cosmetic includes "any substance or mixture of substances, manufactured, sold or represented for use in cleansing, improving or altering the complexion, skin, hair or teeth and includes deodorants and perfumes." This includes cosmetics used by professional esthetic services, bulk institutional products (such as hand soap in school rest rooms), as well as "handmade" cosmetics sold at craft sales or home-based businesses.

The Cosmetic Regulations and the Food and Drugs Act require that cosmetics sold in Canada be manufactured, prepared, preserved, packed and stored under sanitary conditions. The manufacturer and importer must notify Health Canada that it is selling the product and provide a list of the product's ingredients.

Additionally, cosmetics are subject to the requirements of the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act and Regulations and any chemicals found in cosmetics may be subject to the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.

Health Canada has banned or restricted the use of over 500 chemical ingredients for use in cosmetic products. These chemicals can be found on Canada's Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. Comparatively, the U.S. has banned only 8 chemical ingredients for use in cosmetics.

 The basics with mens cosmetics

The first step towards choosing your products is to determine your skin type and tone. Your skin type can be either oily, dry, normal, or combination. There are a range of cosmetics available for every skin type and complexion, so that the skin does not react badly to makeup. Always make sure you choose products that complement your skin tone, and not the ones that are too light or dark. Test the products on the inner part of your wrist, and choose the base that covers up your veins well. When it comes to makeup for men, there are not many products that can be used. The basic products are foundation, primer, compact powder, concealer, and lip balm. Some men use a small amount of bronze though, just to highlight their cheekbones.

Getting your skin ready for makeup is very important. Remember to shave before applying makeup, as fine particles of makeup tend to get stuck on your stubble. After you are done with your shave, cleanse your skin well and remove off all the excess oil. Add a few drops of toner in a moist cotton pad and rub it all over your face in upward direction. Use a good moisturizer, and blend it into your skin using the tip of your fingers in circular motion. Once in three days, try exfoliating your skin, as it really helps in removing the dead skin cells. Maintain a healthy skin care regime and follow a good diet to get soft and supple skin.

Once you are done with cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your skin, dab a small amount of your BASE (foundation, concealer, primer) on your face, and make sure you spread it evenly with your fingertips. If you are new to the world of cosmetics, remember to just use an amount that is enough to cover your blemishes and scars. Use liquid foundation as it is easier to spread on the skin.

While donning makeup to cover dark circles, apply concealer with the help of a brush, and blend it into your skin using your fingers. To set your concealer, you need to dab some matte finish powder or compact with a broad brush. After you are done with your eyes, you can also dab the compact powder on your nose, forehead, and chin so that your face does not look oily. Use a little bit of transparent or neutral-coloured lip balm on your lips. This will not only complete your look, but will also keep your lips hydrated, preventing them from getting chapped.

Always remove your makeup before you sleep, to avoid constant breakouts and clogged pores. Use a good makeup remover or cleanser for your face. Tone your skin once all the makeup has been washed off. If you want, you can use a night cream or gel to rejuvenate your skin.

The perfect look, here's how!

The perfect look, here's how!

How to apply our mens makeup range
      1. Apply Mens Moisturizer

First, the most vital step to creating a glowing look is to moisturize your skin. Your skin needs to be hydrated in order for your foundation to look natural after application. If you leave your skin dehydrated, it will cling to the dry patches, revealing an unnatural finish. Use a moisturizer that suits your skin type, and avoid choosing products only based on someone’s recommendation. It doesn’t necessarily mean it will suit your own skin. A good moisturizer should keep the foundation on your skin for the whole day.

      1. Apply Mens Foundation

After applying face moisturizer, you can apply foundation now that your skin is hydrated. All you need is a decent layer of foundation for a long-lasting and smooth complexion. A good foundation covers and treats long-term skin concerns, like minimizing pores, immediately after application.

It is recommended that you use a sponge or makeup brush to apply your foundation for the most natural look. A quality makeup applicator creates the perfect base for other makeup products. You must apply your foundation first before concealers, because it serves as the base to all other makeups you’ll apply on your skin.

      1. Apply Mens Concealer

Concealers are designed to hide blemishes, but you also need the right technique to get the perfect coverage. It’s recommended that you use a small brush for application so you don’t overdo it. A good concealer will cover even the darkest marks and biggest spots. However, if your concealer is roughly used, you won’t get even application on your skin, and some spots may not cover well. Practice this often to master the product application and make your covered spots look natural.

      1. Apply Mens Brow and Facial Hair Filler

Use an eyebrow pencil to fill in the patchy, sparse spots. This will instantly create naturally fuller brows. To add more length to your eyebrows, you can gently extend the brow outwards with a fine-pointed brow pencil.

You can also fill in sparse areas of your beard with a brow pencil, or you can buy beard makeup specifically designed for facial hair. Perfect this look as desired and you’ll have a full, burly beard.

      1. Apply Mens Contour

You can add nose, temple and cheekbone contouring with a good contour powder. For nose contouring, apply strokes down the sides of the nose bridge with a fine contouring brush. Blend well to make the lines disappear so that it leaves shadows of a more sculpted nose.

Create the perfect, sculpted cheekbones by applying contour powder just beneath your cheekbones. Apply contour powder slowly, so you don’t overdo it. Apply contour powder to your temples to finish the look. You must blend slowly and outwards to get a perfectly natural look.
